How to start product initiation
OMIO PIM runs a 5-step process: Initiate, Enrich, Select, Translate, Publish. The first stage, where product initiation takes place, is Initiate and this is where basic product information is required to set up a product in the system.
This process can either begin with teams creating new products within the system or they can choose to import data from an ERP, a spreadsheet or via a supplier. Once the product has been created, it’s available across your entire business for other colleagues to add data to.

What are the steps in product initiation?
In this first stage, all you need to do is add in basic core product information. However, we’ve got over 21 years of providing software and services to the retail sector, so we’ve used this to hone OMIO PIM to be as retail-friendly as possible. Because of this, information such as SKU-level data, including size scales, style and colour can be added, but you can also add in the product’s initial costs and retail costs, which a linked ERP system can then use to create purchase orders.
