2020 has been a challenging year for us all, in a variety of ways.
However, for our Head of Business Development – Solutions, Lisa Bowden, this last 18 months has proved to be tougher than most.
She explains: “In February 2019, I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Stage 3 Breast Cancer. I’ll be honest, it was a shock. Now, after two major surgeries, 8 horrific months of chemotherapy and many, many sad and difficult complications along the way, I feel ready to help and to give back to help some of the most amazing people I’ve met and who have supported me along the way.
“I’m not in a position to be able to run in this year’s Race for Life, but I am going to walk it (however long it takes!) and aim to be fit enough to run it next year.”
This September, we’ve set our colleagues the challenge to Walk with Lisa. Whilst we can’t all do the Race for Life together at the moment, there’s lots of different ways we, as one big Retail Assist team, can join in. The plan is that we all walk (or run!) a kilometer or two and, for those that are able to, to then donate money to Lisa’s JustGiving link. We’ll also be gathering photos of everyone taking part along the way to share with you all. Lisa has already raised an incredible £560 and, with everyone’s help, we’d love to see that pass the £1,000 mark.
So, wherever you’re based, if you’d like to join us then you’re more than welcome to! Whether you want to walk/run/cycle/salsa (or any other form of movement that we’ve missed off!) a kilometer or 5, then do send us a photo. Also, if you would like to donate to Lisa’s JustGiving page, you can do so here.
